Our journey to the Congo began a long time ago! We both grew up at Kelso First Assembly and it was there that God began to speak to our hearts about missions through the stories from many missionary heroes. In high school and college we were able to go on missions trips and experience for ourselves the impact of Global missions. After graduating from Central Bible College and getting married in 2002, we began our ministry in the Northwest Ministry Network. For the past 9 years, we have experienced children’s, youth and associate pastoral positions. Michelle has been an elementary school teacher for the past 9 years and has a strong passion for teaching children. It is her desire to take these gifts to the children of the Congo.
In the fall of 2008, we sensed the green light to start our journey down the road towards approval from the Assemblies of God World Missions board. In March of 2009, we took a trip to Chad, Africa, with Bill and Sonia Shaw to experience a real taste of Missionary life. I will never forget the overwhelming presence of God as Michelle and I stood before a group of the first Bible school students in this country. It was in that moment I heard the Lord say to me, “This is what I have called you to do.” Upon our return home, the World Missions Committee members of our Network granted our approval to begin the long process of applying with the Assemblies of God World Missions. In April of 2010, Michelle and I were granted official approval from the Executive Members of the World Missions Department.
